Narrow aisle pallet racking is the space-saving option if floor space is limited: maximum storage capacity, fast accessibility to every pallet and quick order picking straight from the racking. Aisle pallet racking system have a width of around 1.6 metres, with each pallet being individually supported and independently reachable. Although a specialist narrow aisle truck must be used in this system, this allows for a dramatic increase in space utilisation.
Specialist Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) forktrucks or cranes are used with this system, but they can lift higher, work faster within the aisle and operate with greater precision, accuracy and efficiency than standard trucks.
With all pallets accessible there are minimum loading complications, therefore the system maximises speed, thus improving productivity.
Narrow Aisle racking can free up to 45% of the floor space given to aisles in a wide aisle scheme. Through maximising space utilisation you can store more pallets in the limited space of your warehouse.
These specialist machines lift higher and work faster than a general purpose truck. Therefore through a narrow aisle system not only is space utilisation improved through higher reach but also faster order picking, therefore increasing productivity.
